Jupiter Systems Mourns Death of Wayne Wahlenmeier, VP, Sales & Marketing

Hayward, CA (PRWEB) July 14, 2008 -- Jupiter Systems is saddened to announce the unexpected death of Wayne Wahlenmeier, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and highly regarded industry leader and pioneer in the Audio Visual Industry, on June 28, 2008. Mr. Wahlenmeier was also a multiple recipient of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was 63 years old.

"Wayne was instrumental in setting up and building the Jupiter direct sales team and its global network of value-added resellers and integrators," said Eric Wogsberg, President of Jupiter Systems. "In many ways Wayne was the public face of Jupiter Systems and was recognized for establishing key partnerships in the industry and creating best practices for working with our customers. He was a friend and a colleague, and his presence will be greatly missed."

"Wayne completely changed the way we did business," said John Stark, Director of Product Management and Technical Services. "He opened up key international markets in China, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East and was early to recognize new market opportunities in defense, security, business and governmental operations. That foresight helped Jupiter establish industry leadership in command and control visualization and has resulted in major global contracts. He was modest about his own accomplishments and universally held in high regard."

Under Wayne Wahlenmeier's sales leadership, Jupiter's high performance display wall processors came to be widely used in installations in telecommunications, defense, security, finance and governmental agencies around the world.

Mr. Wahlenmeier served Jupiter Systems for 12 years. In the 20 years prior he had held sales/marketing and senior management positions with IBM, Honeywell, National Semiconductor, Evolution Computer Systems, and Fujitsu. During that time he gained familiarity with multiple channels of distribution (direct sales, OEM, distributor and dealer) as well as wide exposure in IT systems from mainframes to mini-computers and PCs. He went on to found a minicomputer company, took it public and merged it with another publicly held corporation.

In 1966 Wayne Wahlenmeier graduated from The Citadel, the military academy of South Carolina where he received a BA in Political Science and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant and served in the U.S. Army, 4th Infantry Division, 1/10 Cavalry Squadron, as Recon Platoon Leader in Pleiku, the Central Highlands of Vietnam from 1967-1968. He completed two tours of duty and was twice awarded the Military Order of the Purple Heart. Wayne continued to be actively involved with the military through membership in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans of America, Association of the U.S. Army and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA). Additionally, he served for 5 years as a member of the advisory board to the President of The Citadel. He was a life member in the Association of Citadel Men.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Rebecca Evalena Wahlenmeier of Charleston, SC, his father, Fred Wahlenmeier of Corsicana, TX, his son, Wayne W. Wahlenmeier II, of Fort Benning, GA and four grandchildren, Hunter, Savannah, Chase and Ruby.

The funeral was held Wednesday July 2nd in Charleston, South Carolina at Summerall Chapel at the Citadel. He was buried at Beaufort National Cemetery, Charleston, SC with full military honors on July 8:
