Express Composites Appoints New Head of Business Development
Norfolk, UK (PRWEB) October 8, 2007 -- The recent acquisition of Racing Technology Norfolk from the Audi Group has enhanced Express Composites' capability to deliver the widest range of composite material solutions to the entire vehicle sector. These solutions range from Racing Technology Norfolk's expertise in prototype and low volume high performance carbon fibre structures for race/supercars to the lower-cost medium volume composite components for roadcar and commercial vehicle applications provided by Express Composites (http://www.expresscompositesgroup.co.uk).
Steve Godwin, Group Marketing Director, said: "Oliver's appointment represents another step in our investment for growth in the business. He brings extensive knowledge and experience of vehicle development programmes from his work with Ford, Group Lotus Engineering and more recently with the Italian ATR Composites Group, spanning projects in the EU, USA and Far East. This appointment clearly demonstrates that the Express Composites Group (http://www.expresscompositesgroup.co.uk) with Racing Technology Norfolk under its wing is 'open for business' as a global supplier of composite materials solutions".
Oliver commented: ""There is a growing demand for composite materials in the transport sector as OEMs seek lightweight solutions for increased fuel economy and reduced emissions. Using the design, engineering and prototyping capabilities within the group, Express can offer OEMs a partnership for the integration of lightweight composite structures into their products. Recent developments at Express Composites (http://www.expresscompositesgroup.co.uk) in the area of increased automation of composite production processes, with consequent reduction in man-hours per part, will lead to future cost-effective offerings. We also intend to exploit the increasing trend for technology transfer into other sectors such as marine, defence, construction, medical and telecoms where we can offer the value-added structural and aesthetic finish aspects of carbon fibre."
Until its recent change of ownership, Racing Technology Norfolk's focus was as an internal supplier to the Audi Group, contributing to such projects as the Le Mans-winning Bentley in 2004, the Paris-Dakar VW Touareg and the astonishing Bugatti Veyron. Since joining the Express Composites Group, Racing Technology Norfolk has opened up discussions with numerous potential customers on a range of exciting projects. On Friday September 14 it was announced that Racing Technology Norfolk had won a contract from Embassy Racing to build the structures for their all-new contender for the 2008 Le Mans endurance racing series.
