Transition to Freedom(or Why I Left My Traditional Job for Network Marketing)
After 20 years of practicing law, primarily as an in-house attorney in the arena of class-action defense, I had begun to identify with Peggy Lee's 1969 Hit, "Is That All There Is?" If that's all there was, then not only did I not want to keep dancing (as the song goes), I wanted to stop the music altogether! The golden handcuffs that accompany that steady paycheck had begun to chafe. What I did from day to day didn't seem to me to make much of a contribution to mankind in general, and I was tied to my desk 50 to 60+ hours per week. Worst of all, according to my 401(k) balance, retirement was not an option until at least 106. So when management eyed the employment roster for the next "Reduction in Force," I raised my hand. It was both the most exhilarating and the most frightening moment of my life. I had found a legitimate home-based business that I believed truly made a difference and benefited others; a business that I believed would help me take steps to financial freedom; a business where I could create wealth through leverage and expand my earning potential geometrically; a business where earnings were residual and would become a lifetime pension. I had found network marketing...but I was untried. I had never owned a business of my own nor had I been without an employer who provided me a regular you-can-count-on-the-amount paycheck. Yes, there was the occasional "what have I done!" as I organized my home office and set the goal to replace my prior income. At times I had to reach deep for the courage, commitment and discipline to press on when the illusion of "securitiy" beckoned me back to the practice of law. Yet, I had a strong confidence in myself and in the network marketing company with which I worked. I trusted that I could follow the blueprint for success created by those who came before me. I would never advocate that others take the same approach I did and work the high-wire without a net. Before "firing their boss", most network marketers continue their prior jobs until the new business sustains them. But the time was right for me. My biological clock was ticking, threatening to fade my fantasy of taking control of my time and financial well-being. I feared living a life without ever having lived my dream of making a significant contribution. My new business, solidly based in the health and wellness industry, not only fortifies my own healtlh daily, it also permits me to bring the benefit of true health and true weallth to others on a daily basis. By doing so I move steadily toward financial freedom and the freedom to do those things I've ony dreamed of doing but was too busy to do them. Even though my means of transitioning into the business may have been a little unconventional, in network marketing I am not an exception to anyone's rule. I am just another person who saw the wonderful opportunity network marketing offers, and I was willing to follow my heart to find financial and time freedom. As a result, I also found a company and products about which I am passionate, and I have learned an entirely new way of being. You can too. With the successful methods of training and time-tested processes for growing the business, being successful in network marketing is not a matter of CAN you do it, but whether you are WILLING to make the commitment to change. That is the question.
